أعلن الأمريكي ويل فويجت المدير الفني للفريق الأول لكرة السلة بنادي الزمالك، عن قائمة اللاعبين التي ستخوض غمار منافسات بطولة إفريقيا للأندية.

ومن المقرر إقامة بطولة إفريقيا في القاهرة على صالة حسن مصطفى بمدينة 6 أكتوبر في الفترة من 9 إلى 19 أبريل الجاري.

وكان فريق سلة الزمالك قد ضمن المشاركة في بطولة الأندية أبطال الدوري للموسم الثاني على التوالي، بعد الفوز بلقب دوري السوبر في الموسم الماضي.

Mike Vimpany26-Feb-2002Work gets underway next weekend on building the Isle of Wight’s state-of-the-art indoor cricket academy overlooking Ventnor’s unique `superbowl’ at Steephill.The £1.1 million project, financed from the Sport England Lottery Fund, IW Partnership, IW Council and many local supporters, will provide the Island with a three-lane Academy, incorporating video playback facilities for coaching, changing and social facilities.Planning permission was secured last year for the two-storey building that will not only provide an indoor school, but also replace Ventnor’s existing dressing rooms and clubhouse.The top deck of the new academy will be built on the car park and will overlook the unique Steephill ground.”Our first job is to demolish the existing clubhouse, and once the site is cleared construction work can begin,” said John Hilsum, whose Project Development Committee has worked tirelessly for the past six years to get the Island a much needed cricket academy.Island firm Howard Ingram are carrying out the construction works.”It’s been a long, hard drive raising funds for the project, but we’ve had wonderful support – there is still a little to be raised but I am confident that we can complete the task.”After all our labours, it will be a truly magnificent sight to see the Academy take shape.”There’s terrific interest in cricket on the Island and this scheme will be of huge benefit to many people, not least the youngsters – both girls and boys,” he said.Southern Electric Premier League Division 3 clubs visiting Steephill this coming season will have to make do with temporary refreshment facilities in the Botanical Gardens Visitors Centre, less than 100 yards from the ground.”We are continuing to use the dressing rooms, which form part of a Listed Building, but players will have to walk a short distance for tea and post-match refreshments.”We ask all of our visiting teams to bear with us this season as once the Academy is built, we will have a facility to be proud of,” Hilsum added.

It’s fair to say that Scotland is still buzzing despite their difficult start to the tournament. EURO 2020 marks the long awaited return of fans in stadiums cheering on their home nation and with the first kick-off imminent, former Scotland international Alan Hutton sat down with Instagram sensation Munya Chawawa for Just Eat’s Home Advantage video series.

Just Eat’s Home Advantage looks to bring the best of food and football together, as Munya orders a takeaway with some of the UK’s favourites footballers each week throughout the tournament.

Like many Scottish fans, the memories of Euro 96 remain with Hutton. “As a Scottish person, Euro96 sticks in my memory.  I just remember watching that Switzerland game. Ally McCoist scoring, everyone going wild and I remember being in the house with my Dad; it was a family event. … The kilts start coming out, the bagpipes start coming out. Those memories, they live with you forever.”

Hutton believes the current crop can still make a push in the competition despite their unlucky start. “I still think they’ve got a chance to get out of the group. Their last game is at Hampden park so they have a real opportunity to win that. If they get out of the group I think they will all go down as heroes.”

The former Villa man is all too aware of the risks posed by England though, going as far to say that Gareth Southgate’s men could go the distance. “England has a fantastic team, one of the favourites. They may well be looking to go all the way.”

Hutton, though, regards Belgium as the outright favourites. “I think Belgium has got a good opportunity. They have done well in the previous euros, they have done well in the world cup. I think the group of players they’ve got are at a very good age now. They have been around these big tournaments for a long time and they are really ready to push and some of the players are outstanding. So I think I am going to back them.”

Crystal Palace are considering talking to Paulo Fonseca regarding the Selhurst Pak vacancy.

And those links have had a number of Eagles fans talking on social media.

According to 90min, Palace are weighing up whether to talk with Fonseca, who almost joined Tottenham.

The report adds that, should Palace want to discuss a move with Fonseca, they’ll have to be quick, as he is in negotiations with Italian side Fiorentina.

Steve Parish is still looking for Roy Hodgson’s long-term successor and has come close twice already with moves for Nuno Espirito Santo and Lucien Favre.

Deals for both available bosses collapsed in the end and it seems as if Fonseca and Swansea City’s Steve Cooper are on the club’s radar.

Cooper’s £3m fee to take him from the Liberty Stadium remains an issue, according to 90min.

A number of Liverpool supporters are unhappy about the Reds’ reported interest in signing Italy winger Domenico Berardi this summer.

Last season proved to be a difficult one at Anfield, but Jurgen Klopp’s side ended up saving their campaign with a third-place finish in the Premier League. A number of Reds players failed to hit their usual heights, with Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino arguably the most culpable in that respect.

It could be that Klopp believes another wide player needs to come in this summer in order to improve competition for places in 2021/22.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport [via LFC Transfer Room on Twitter], Liverpool are interested in Berardi, and Sassuolo would be willing to sell him for €40m (£34.3m).

The 26-year-old has scored five goals in 14 appearances for Italy and he has played three times at Euro 2020 this summer. However, the one-club man has never played in the group stage of any European club competition, which suggests that a move to Anfield would be quite a step up for him.
