An update has emerged on Fulham midfielder Fabio Carvalho, regarding Leeds’ interest in his services.

What’s the talk?

According to the Daily Mail, Leeds are one of the clubs interested in signing Fulham midfielder Fabio Carvalho this month.

Carvalho has failed to agree a contract extension with the Championship club, with just r12 months remaining on his current deal. The report claims that West Ham, Porto and Norwich are also tracking the teenager, along with Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds.

Bielsa could work his magic

Victor Orta must secure a deal for Carvalho as the youngster could be an excellent addition to the club in the long term. He may not be a player who will be able to come in and immediately improve Bielsa’s starting XI in the Premier League, but he has shown signs in his fledging career to suggest that he could have the potential to become a top player in the future under the Argentine’s stewardship.

His former boss Scott Parker made that point himself last season. The ex-Spurs midfielder claimed that Carvalho’s “future’s bright” earlier this year after he scored his first Premier League goal for the Cottagers. He said:  “(Carvalho is a) big positive.

“Massive positive for us because he’s the one who’s going to be here, he’s a player that is really bright and can bring something to this team and you saw that today. We’ve seen his quality today, we’ve seen him scoring and assisting at an under-23 level but now he’s been around first-team players, he’s pushed on and done that as well.“I don’t want to heap too much on Fabio because he’s still a young boy but the future’s bright for him and he’s someone that I really like and someone that I look forward to working with really.”Some of his performances in the Premier League for Fulham backed these claims up. He recorded an excellent WhoScored rating of 7.76 against Southampton whilst starting as a right-back, winning four tackles and completing an eye-catching five dribbles.Not only that, but he scored a goal in the match and provided a key pass, which shows that he has the quality to produce a class performance in the top-tier.Fulham also handed him two other starts following that game, with both coming in his more favoured central midfield role. In those two games, he made five tackles, completed three dribbles and created one chance. These are some very promising signs for a player who does not turn 19 until later this year, both in terms of the ability on display and the versatility positionally.This means that Bielsa could work his magic on the teenager on the training pitch to help aid his development as a player. The ICC will discuss the future of Zimbabwe cricket at their executive meeting in Dubai next week, according to David Morgan, the president-elect, speaking during the launch of the ICC World Twenty20 at Lord’s.Yesterday, Cricket South Africa cut its ties with Zimbabwe Cricket following further deterioration of the political situation. “The ICC has never concerned itself with how member countries are governed,” Morgan said. “However, yesterday Cricket South Africa announced that they were scrapping bilateral contact with Zimbabwe Cricket. It has been decided to put Zimbabwe on the agenda of the executive board meeting of the ICC which takes place next Wednesday in Dubai.”Cricket South Africa’s decision yesterday is hugely significant,” Morgan added. “Clearly they will want something done. They’re very influential in terms of southern African cricket and Zimbabwe is part of that. Quite where the various members will stand on it I really don’t know – all of this is new as of five o’clock yesterday.”Crucially, Ray Mali, the ICC president, said that the issue to be discussed was “Zimbabwe’s membership”, hinting that there was a possibility that they could be expelled as a Full Member. He told the BBC that he had endorsed Cricket South Africa’s decision, adding: “I have written to Zimbabwe saying their future in international cricket will be put on the agenda and this issue will be discussed at our meeting next week.””He [Mali] believes there is a danger that supporters of one political party will not be allowed to play or support cricket,” Morgan added.The ICC has previously shown little inclination to make any strong statements on Zimbabwe, but recent events are likely to force their hand especially as South Africa have been long-time supporters of Zimbabwe. An ICC insider told Cricinfo: “As every day passes, Zimbabwe’s status looks less and less tenable.”Zimbabwe have been placed in group A of the ICC World Twenty20 but their participation in the event is in increasing doubt. If they have to be replaced a third Associate nation will be added to the tournament.Britain’s prime minister Gordon Brown has been vocal in his condemnation of the violence in Zimbabwe, and stated yesterday that Robert Mugabe’s regime ‘should not be recognised by anyone’. “Under the current circumstances it is the government’s view that the tour would clearly be unwelcome,” a spokesman for the prime minister told the Press Association. “We would also have serious concerns about Zimbabwe participating in the Twenty20 World Cup.”

A report from Italian newspaper Il Messaggero (via Sport Witness) has expressed confidence that Newcastle United will seal a near-€40million (£33.8million) deal for Boubacar Kamara.

The lowdown

21 year-old Kamara plays for Ligue 1 outfit Marseille and can operate as a centre-back, left-back and a defensive midfielder.

He made 35 league appearances last season, averaging 2.5 tackles, 1.9 successful aerial duels and three accurate long balls per 90 minutes (via WhoScored).

One of his former team-mates, Rolando, has labelled him a ‘phenomenon’ who will become a long-term fixture of the France national side.

On Monday, Shields Gazette journalist Liam Kennedy predicted that Newcastle would look to sign another central defender before the end of the window.

The latest

The report states that Marseille will be able to use the proceeds of Kamara’s big-money sale to Newcastle to fund a move for Lazio’s Gonzalo Escalante.

The youngster has entered the final year of his contract at the Stade Velodrome and played the full 90 minutes last weekend as his side came from two goals down to beat Montpellier 3-2.

The verdict

There’s no doubt this would be a magnificent signing for Newcastle, but it would also come as a pretty huge surprise.

As football finance expert Kieran Maguire explains, Mike Ashley is looking to ‘sell his house’ and appears to have little interest in ‘doing up the kitchen first’.

Newcastle could be about to invest more than £20million in the signing of Joe Willock. Surely Ashley won’t sanction a £33.8million swoop for Kamara as well?

New Zealand struck back when Khawaja and Liam Davis were dismissed for the addition of 10 runs. Henriques and Forrest then added 74 to put Australia on the path to victory. Henriques played aggressively, striking two massive sixes in his 35-ball 57, while Davis was bowled by Brandon Hiini six runs short of his half-century. It was left to Warner, who remained unbeaten on 10, to take them home with three runs required on the final delivery of the match.Put in, New Zealand were rocked early by a double-strike from Grant Sullivan, who took the prized wicket of Jesse Ryder, after which they fell to 72 for 6. But their innings was put back on track by Corey Anderson, who made 53 and put on 56 runs for the seventh wicket with ‘keeper Bevan Griggs (17). Anderson’s rearguard act was ended by Henriques, who finished with 2 for 25, while Sullivan was the most successful of the Australian bowlers with 3 for 25.

India Emerging Players came from behind, after being restricted to only 87, to claim a thrilling 12-run win over South Africa Emerging Players in their Twenty20 match at the Peter Burge Oval in Brisbane.India got off to a poor start after choosing to bat, stumbling to 32 for 5, with Wayne Parnell, the left-arm seamer, accounting for Virat Kohli and Abhishek Nayar. A recovery of sorts was led by captain S Badrinath and Ravindra Jadeja, who added 51 runs for the sixth wicket. Jadeja, after making 20, was caught by Ahmed Amla to give Parnell, who is also South Africa’s under-19 captain, his third wicket while Badrinath’s innings was ended on 37 by a direct hit from Blake Snijman. The South African bowlers had done well to keep India below 100, but they conceded 15 extras, including 10 wides, which proved decisive to the eventual result.Snijman (17) and Dean Elgar (14) added 36 runs for the first wicket to give the initial thrust to South Africa’s chase. Simon Jones is the latest England quick bowler to question the selection of Darren Pattinson for the second Test against South Africa. Jones was overlooked for a recall along with Matthew Hoggard and Steve Harmison, with the selectors preferring Pattinson who had played just 11 first-class matches.Since his success at the 2005 Ashes, Jones has been riddled with injuries but this season has returned to fitness. He is Worcestershire’s second leading wicket-taker with 32 scalps from seven matches.”I was a bit disappointed with the last Test, with the selections,” Jones told the . “They obviously chose him [Pattinson] because they thought he was the right man for the job but I’m sure a few bowlers around England were a bit disappointed.”Jones believes reputation alone is not good enough for the England selectors. He knows that he must prove himself by bowling his way back into the line-up. “It’s just a matter of keeping on taking wickets and pushing” he said. “I’d love to get back into the side and I’m sure Hoggy would too, and Steve Harmison.”However, he is hoping that his return to bowling with sustained pace will put him firmly back in the England frame before long. “It’s been a really good feeling to get back up to 91mph – that’s a good way to put your point across”.Jones’s confidence in regaining his Test place is not matched by Hoggard. “At the moment I think my international career is over.” Hoggard said following his omission at Headingley. “I’m back in the ranks and everyone has got to prove themselves and pick up the wickets to get back to that level.”

وأكمل: “إمكانيات اللاعبين المصريين ضعيفة، وإيهاب جلال مدرب كبير، الفترة التي قضاها في الزمالك ومنتخب مصر ستضاف للسيرة الذاتية الخاصة به، لا أتفق أنه (يحرق نفسه)”.

واختتم: “أطالب إيهاب جلال بتقديم استقالته احترامًا لذاته لأن اتحاد الكرة لن يدعمه، وسيفشل حتى لو استمر في مهمته”.
