Pouco depois de o clube decidir pela demissão de Rogério Ceni, o diretor executivo de futebol Vinicius Pinotti tranquilizou membros da comissão técnica e prometeu anunciar o substituto antes do jogo contra o Santos, no domingo, na Vila Belmiro. Com Dorival Júnior como prioridade, existe até a possibilidade de ele estar no banco de reservas no clássico.

Por enquanto, não está garantido que o ex-volante Pintado, membro permanente da comissão técnica e que segue no clube, comandará a equipe no fim de semana, apesar de ser uma possibilidade vista como bem possível pela diretoria. A ideia é que a partida já tenha a participação do novo responsável por acabar com uma sequência de seis rodadas sem vitória que colocou o clube na zona de rebaixamento do Campeonato Brasileiro.

No momento, a prioridade da diretoria é contratar Dorival Júnior, desempregado desde o começo do mês passado, quando foi demitido pelo Santos. Os dirigentes querem anunciá-lo o quanto antes e estão cientes de que ele, costumeiramente, não espera muito tempo antes de já começar a trabalhar nas partidas do times em que assume.

The PCB had initially listed 26 players for central contracts earlier this month, but had been forced into including Adbur Rauf after he complained of being treated unfairly in television interviews.But a board official said one of the main tasks of the committee would be to revive retainer contracts that first appeared in Shaharyar Khan’s administration, as an incentive for younger, upcoming players. “The committee has been set up to look also at young, upcoming players who we may put on a retainership. It was something started under Shaharyar Khan and we want to pursue that,” Altaf told Cricinfo.Among the slightly surprising decisions in this year’s list of contracts were the promotion of Shoaib Akhtar and Danish Kaneria to the top category. Some of the players were also reportedly unhappy with Steve Bruce’s training methods after their poor start to the season which has left them in 19th spot in the Premier League table after picking up a mere two points from their first five games (Premier League).

Speaking to Football Insider, former Aston Villa and England international striker Agbonlahor has now slammed the fact that the bust-up was leaked, although he claimed that they are ‘normal’ in a football club:

“I fell out with Gary McAllister badly on the training pitch at Aston Villa when he was with Gerard Houllier and nobody ever found out about it.

“It happens every week on the training ground, especially when you’re not playing. I fell out with Gary McAllister because I wasn’t playing and we had a fallout, you’re not meant to be happy when you’re not playing, you can be sulking.

It all seems like doom and gloom at St. James’ Park at the moment, considering their start to the campaign coupled up with the leaks coming out of the training ground.

The club need to get a hold of how these leaks happened, and thus take any necessary action in order to make sure that they do not happen again.

Aston Villa defender Ezri Konsa was once again overlooked by England manager Gareth Southgate ahead of the upcoming international break.

Reliable Villa Park reporter Ashley Preece shared a post regarding Konsa’s snub on Thursday, which led to a number of Villa fans giving their thoughts on social media.

Ollie Watkins earned a recall to England’s 23-man squad, while Tyrone Mings kept his place, but Konsa is yet to be included for the first time.

AC Milan’s Fikayo Tomori was given the nod due to Manchester United’s Harry Maguire not being available.

Preece took to Twitter shortly after England’s squad was announced, labelling Konsa as a Rolls-Royce of a defender.

– Tive um momento um pouco infeliz, onde em uma data de comemoração do clube eu acabei sendo criticado (amistoso com o Benfica). Todos no meu lugar poderiam ter passado pela mesma coisa. Me mantive focado, centrado no que eu sei que eu posso alcançar. Hoje eu venho colhendo esses frutos. Não deixei peteca cair, aconteceu isso, virei um ano e procurei trabalhar nas férias porque sabia que algo de bom poderia acontecer nesse ano. Voltei na pré-temporada, me sentia bem e fui buscando espaço. Consegui e estou renovando o contrato – concluiu Veríssimo.
