Same agent as Gerrard: Rangers want cheap deal to sign £1m int'l defender

As Rangers look to commence their summer business, the 49ers are now reportedly chasing a deal to sign an international defender for a bargain price in the coming months.

Rangers could rehire Steven Gerrard

Top of the 49ers’ list of priorities at Ibrox will undoubtedly be finding the next Rangers manager. With the Scottish Premiership season now over, the Gers will be desperate to put an end to any speculation and appoint what they hope to be a long-term appointment. A number of names on that front have already been mentioned too, but it’s Davide Ancelotti and Steven Gerrard who are seemingly the leading candidates.

What is quite the indication that Ancelotti is among the candidates is the fact that he hasn’t joined his father, Carlo Ancelotti, at the Brazil national team as he looks to get his own managerial career underway.

Meanwhile, Gerrard needs no introduction. The Liverpool legend ended Rangers’ long wait for another league title in 2021, but then jumped ship to join Premier League side Aston Villa. Since then, however, things have only gone downhill. Sacked by Villa, who have gone on to become a side battling for European football, Gerrard then joined Saudi Pro League side Al Ettifaq only to face the same fate that he suffered in the Midlands.

A free agent once more, Gerrard could now have the opportunity to head back to Ibrox and make up for leaving four years ago. Whether the Scottish giants are in the mood to offer a shot at redemption is the big question, however.

It’s an appointment that Rangers cannot get wrong after Philippe Clement, but one that they must conclude sooner rather than later. What the appointment of Gerrard would at least do is hand the Gers a potential advantage in the race to sign one of their summer targets.

Rangers chasing £1m George Bello deal

According to Pete O’Rourke of Football Insider, Rangers are now chasing a deal to sign George Bello from Austrian club LASK this summer. The USA international is reportedly valued at just £1m and represents the type of deal that the Gers could afford in the coming months.

George Bello during his time at Arminia Bielefeld.

What’s more, Bello is represented by the same agency as Gerrard, John Souttar and Danilo, which could hand the 49ers an unexpected opportunity to simplify any potential contract negotiations this summer.

The left-back would certainly be an interesting addition. Having initially come through the Atlanta academy, Bello decided to join Arminia Bielefeld in 2022 before struggling to adapt in Germany. But he didn’t give up his stint in Europe from there, opting to join LASK in 2023 and getting back to his best level ever since.

A new left-back would be no bad thing for Rangers, either, with Neraysho Kasanwirjo set to return to parent club Feyenoord this summer and Jefte in need of competition down that side.

Whilst appointing a new manager – be it Gerrard, Ancelotti or another name – will be Rangers’ priority in the coming weeks, players like Bello will be ones to keep an eye on this summer.

20 summer transfer window targets Leeds United are linked with (2025)

Leeds United are preparing for life back in the Premier League after winning promotion from the Championship at the second time of asking under Daniel Farke.

The Whites and the 49ers Enterprises have already been linked with replacing the Leeds manager ahead of their top flight return due to concerns about his previous record with Norwich City.

In what would be a ruthless call from the Elland Road board, Leeds are also likely to be very busy in the transfer market to bolster their squad with quality on the pitch to remain a Premier League side.

Former Whites midfielder Kalvin Phillips has found life difficult after leaving Leeds for Man City in 2022. Recent loan spells at West Ham and Ipswich Town haven’t worked out for the defensive midfielder, who could now be on the search for another new club this summer.

Reports have linked Phillips with a return to Leeds, saying that he is keen on the idea of heading back to his boyhood club.

2 Manor Solomon Tottenham

Loanee Manor Solomon has helped Leeds into the Premier League with some crucial displays during the run-in, and he is expected to become a permanent Whites player this summer.

The Israel international could cost around £15m, with claims he is set to be Leeds’ first signing of the window.

3 Sam Johnstone Wolves

A new goalkeeper to replace Illan Meslier could be high up on the to-do list for Leeds, and Sam Johnstone of Wolves is thought to be of interest at Elland Road.

A goalkeeper with plenty of Premier League experience now after stints with West Brom, Crystal Palace and Wolves, Johnstone was actually on the books of rivals Man Utd early in his career and starred against Leeds back in 2023.

4 Julian Weigl Borussia Monchengladbach

Farke has previously worked with midfielder Julian Weigl at Borussia Monchengladbach and recent claims have suggested that initial contact has taken place over a move to Leeds.

The Monchengladbach captain has plenty of experience in the Bundesliga and has even played in the Champions League, so he could add that extra bit of quality in midfield for the Whites.

5 Evan Ferguson Brighton

With doubts at Leeds over Joel Piroe and Patrick Bamford in the Premier League, a new striker looks set to be signed ahead of the 2025/26 campaign, with Brighton’s Evan Ferguson a target.

The Irishman has been on loan at West Ham for the second half of the 2024/25 season, and by the looks of things, Leeds could try their luck with a forward who could be the “next Harry Kane”.

6 Tomas Soucek West Ham

Towering West Ham midfielder Tomas Soucek is another Premier League player to be linked with Leeds, especially after falling out of favour under Graham Potter recently.

The Czech Republic international is wanted by Leeds and Everton with the 49ers even willing to pay him a whopping £120,000-a-week, an increase on his current Hammers deal.

8 Nico Elvedi Borussia Monchengladbach

Another Borussia Monchengladbach player who Farke knows well is defender Nico Elvedi, who has been with the Bundesliga side since 2015.

Reports claimed that Leeds were preparing a £10m offer to sign the experienced Switzerland international if promotion was secured, something they can now do.

9 George Hirst Ipswich Town

Leeds could look to raid the teams coming down from the Premier League, with recent rumours of a move for Ipswich Town forward George Hirst.

The Tractor Boys are looking to keep the attacker at Portman Road with a new deal due to interest from the Whites and fellow promoted side Burnley.

10 Aaron Ramsdale Southampton

Another Premier League relegated target is goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, who reportedly has a £25m release clause in his Southampton contract.

The Englishman has admirers from Leeds and the likes of Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest, although he could get regular game time at Elland Road.

Club now happy to sell top Arsenal target for £60m+ as Berta talks advance

Arsenal have now received the green light to sign their “number one striker target” for a fee of just over £60m this summer, with talks now advancing, according to transfer expert Pete O’Rourke.

Gunners ramping up striker pursuit

In many ways, Mikel Merino has done an impressive job since being forced to fill in as a makeshift striker, scoring at Anfield in the recent 2-2 draw against Liverpool, while also assisting both goals in the 2-1 victory against Real Madrid at the Bernabeu.

However, with the Spaniard more accustomed to being a midfielder, it is looking increasingly likely the Gunners will bring in a new striker this summer, and there are signs that £75m-rated RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko could be a huge upgrade on Kai Havertz.

Sesko is believed to be one of the north Londoners’ top targets, alongside Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres, with sporting director Andrea Berta understood to be a huge fan of the Swede, who recently led his side to Liga Portugal title glory.

There has since been a new update on Arsenal and Berta’s pursuit of Gyokeres, with O’Rourke telling Football Insider: “For Gyokeres, talks are advancing between Arsenal and his representatives,

“[Gyokeres] is emerging as the number one choice for Arsenal, and it seems there’s a willingness from all parties to get the deal done.

“The player is happy to come and Sporting CP are happy to sell for just over £60million.”

In the same report, it is revealed that Mikel Arteta isn’t totally sold on the idea of signing the 26-year-old, which indicates that Berta is driving the move.

Despite the manager’s concerns, however, it appears as though the deal is edging closer to completion, having received the green light from Sporting.

"Sensational" Gyokeres could be final piece of the jigsaw

Arsenal’s reluctance to sign a new striker in recent transfer windows has been much-maligned, with the decision arguably costing Arteta’s side in their Premier League title pursuit this season, considering they have had to make do without an out-and-out striker since February.

Havertz being ruled out for the rest of the season was a major blow for the Gunners, particularly considering he is not the only player to spend a long period of time on the sidelines, with Bukayo Saka also missing large parts of the season.

As such, Arsenal should undoubtedly be looking to bring in a new striker this summer, and it is exciting news that a deal for Gyokeres, who was once lauded as “sensational”, is now edging closer to completion.

The Sporting star has been simply incredible in front of goal this season, netting 39 goals in 33 Liga Portugal games, while also scoring six times in the Champions League, indicating that he could be the final piece of the jigsaw for Arteta.

A maiden IPL hundred, a stunned Virat Kohli – Will Jacks has made a big impression

The RCB batter found form late this IPL season, but just in time for England ahead of the T20 World Cup next month

Matt Roller18-May-2024Will Jacks remembers looking at the scoreboard at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium and thinking, “Wow, this could be cool.” Royal Challengers Bengaluru needed seven to win against Gujarat Titans; six balls after reaching his half-century, Jacks had surged to 88 not out. His first IPL hundred beckoned. At the non-striker’s end, Virat Kohli was grinning. When Jacks slog-swept Rashid Khan for six to level the scores and move to 94, Kohli covered his mouth and laughed in disbelief. When Jacks swung Rashid over midwicket for six more, reaching a 41-ball century, Kohli ran down and jumped into his arms in celebration.”As soon as I hit that last one, I knew it was going miles,” Jacks says from Bengaluru. “It snuck up on me. I only got to my fifty the over before. I was just trying to get there as quickly as possible and win the game. Once I got my fifty, Virat was like, ‘I don’t want to face any balls – keep going.'”When Mohit Sharma came on [in the 15th over], that was my match-up. I was going to take him down there, because I’d faced him for three or four balls before and I’d got a good eye of him. I knew that was my time, and after that there was no reason to stop. I didn’t realise I could have got a hundred until we needed seven to win.Related

“Obviously a big celebration, a hug from Virat, and then I realised what I’d done. It was amazing. I just thought, ‘I’m 100 not out in an IPL game – and two weeks ago, I wasn’t even playing.’ There’s been a lot of attention since but I’ve loved the experience.”He has saved a photo in the “favourites” tab of his phone, of Kohli’s reaction to the six that took him to 94, which he intends to get printed.”Nothing’s changed realistically: I’ve just scored some runs. I’ve always known I’ve been good enough, but to really dominate like that just lets everyone else know what I can do. But to do it with Virat, and have him hyping me up like that? It’s special.”Second to last laugh: Virat Kohli has a disbelieving chuckle at the other end when Jacks is one six away from his maiden IPL hundred•BCCIIt was a far cry from the start of his innings: batting at No. 3, Jacks managed 17 runs off his first 17 balls. “I was gripping the bat a bit too hard,” he reflects. “I was a little bit over-eager to hit the ball hard, which is a trap I’ve fallen into. On the back of seeing all these high scores and crazy sixes, I felt like I needed to do extra when I know – or I should know – that my game is good enough.”They do have three high-quality spinners [Rashid, Noor Ahmed and Sai Kishore] and I didn’t face a ball of seam until my 17th ball. I just needed to settle in, and Virat really helped me with that. He took ownership of the partnership and the risks while I was getting going, and made sure that we didn’t fall behind – and that I didn’t have to do something really unnecessary.”Jacks spent “ten-plus years” watching the IPL back home on TV but this was his first experience of playing in it, after he was ruled out of last season through injury. He was taken aback by the scale of support for RCB: “Everyone told me their fans were the best but now I’ve seen how crazy it is… I kind of expected it, but it obviously still takes you by surprise.”The same is true of the adulation for Kohli, and adjusting to calling him a team-mate. “When he first walked in and I first met him, that was surreal,” Jacks said. “Seeing his aura, how people look at him, the following… even if you see a footballer in public at home, it’s not like that. It’s eye-opening. Everywhere we go – all the airports, every street – the support is incredible.”At 25, Jacks believes his first IPL season came at the right time in his career. “It would have been good to come earlier, but I wouldn’t have been ready. I went to the Big Bash when I was 20 and it was great, but my game wasn’t ready. I didn’t know what I was doing, and I did crap. I’m happy where I am now: I can come in and try to dominate, instead of just going, ‘Well, I’ll try to get some runs.'”RCB struggled at the start of the season but Jacks flourished in India, winning five of the eight games he played in and averaging 32.85 at a strike rate 175.57.”I can’t speak highly enough of it [the team]. Everyone is willing to share their experiences,” he says. He worked closely in training with Glenn Maxwell, particularly on his method against spin, and played “a lot of golf” with him. “He’s been outstanding with me. He’s given me loads of his time.”Team-mates Cameron Green and Jacks will be on opposing sides at the T20 World Cup next month•BCCIHe also grew close to Cameron Green, and they were sat next to one another on the team bus when they received their call-ups to their respective squads for the T20 World Cup. “He got called by George Bailey, then I got called by Motty [Matthew Mott] about ten minutes later,” Jacks says, laughing. They might face one another on June 8 in Barbados. This will be Jacks’ first World Cup and he admits he was “disappointed” to miss the previous two. “I thought I was close but obviously it’s tough to get in, which is understandable. My biggest goal for the year was to play in the World Cup – and hopefully win it, obviously – and this has given me confidence that I belong there. I know I’m ready for it.”With Jos Buttler and Phil Salt due to open, Jacks will start the tournament as England’s No. 3. It is a relatively new role – he has batted there 22 times in his 165-match T20 career – and he has been learning on the job. “I only really started doing it on the Caribbean tour [in December] but it’s something I’m getting used to and I’ve learned a lot in our last few games.”For an opener, coming in after the powerplay and starting against spin is different, People have said to me since I was 12 years old that I can always catch up: Stewie [Alec Stewart, Surrey’s director of cricket] always says to me, ‘If you face 50 balls, we’ll win the game.’ It might only be 30 balls at No. 3, but I’m selfless and I want to put the team in a good spot and that’s by being aggressive.”They are traits that he shares with his idol, Kevin Pietersen. “I don’t remember ever trying to bat like anyone, but maybe he was in my head from watching him in the 2005 Ashes,” Jacks says. “I was six then: that’s the first cricket I really remember. Maybe that was ingrained in me from early on?” Jacks has met Pietersen but only sporadically. “He’s someone who I’d like to speak to a bit more.”Jacks was 11 when England won the only previous men’s T20 World Cup staged in the Caribbean, when Pietersen was named player of the tournament. The next few weeks will provide Jacks a chance to write his own name into England’s T20 history.

Patidar, Rahul and their different high-wire acts

Two batters walked two different kinds of tightrope, and there was room for only one of them on the other side

Karthik Krishnaswamy26-May-20222:53

Manjrekar: Patidar’s innings not a flash in the pan, there were signs

Existence can feel like a bleak and terrifying ride down a dark and twisty tunnel with only a wonky steering wheel for company, but there are days when everything is bathed in a golden light and it almost, almost feels like you’re in control of your own destiny. Wednesday was such a day for Rajat Patidar. He might have sensed this as early as the third ball of his innings at Eden Gardens. Dushmantha Chameera bowled him a fast, good-length ball that finished on a tight, off-stumpish line, the sort of ball that keeps batters honest even on the flattest of pitches.Patidar stood where he was and punched the ball, meeting it under his eyes with a vertical bat, making contact just as he shifted his weight from front foot to back. The ball sped downwards, into one of the pitches adjacent to the match strip, and bounced over the right hand of the backward point fielder as he threw himself sideways and upwards at full stretch. His colleague from cover point then gave chase, and the ball kept him interested for long enough to attempt a sprawling, stomach-first dive before it eluded his fingertips and skipped over the boundary cushions.Related

  • Sparkling Patidar 112 knocks LSG out

It was a shot of pure timing, with no need for accoutrements such as footwork or follow-through.Batting can be a complicated thing full of interconnected moving parts that only need to fall slightly out of sync for the whole mechanism to collapse. On a day like the one Patidar was having, however, it can feel like all you need to do is stand there, watch the ball, and let your instincts take over. His feet moved when they had to, of course, nimbly and precisely, allowing him to do absurd things like step away from leg stump and carve a low full-toss over cover, one-handed. Or to skip across in the other direction and deflect a yorker over short fine leg, against the around-the-wicket angle. Or, more subtly, to unweight his front foot and pivot on his back foot to hook a short ball – a short ball designed to cramp him for room – over long leg for six.Patidar’s feet moved when they had to, but never more than strictly necessary, and the overwhelming sense that the innings radiated was of stillness. The stillness of the blessed few who have that extra split-second of time – or the illusion of it – to play their shots.KL Rahul is one of those blessed few, and, in the sixth over of Lucknow Super Giants’ innings, he hit a pair of pulled sixes off Mohammed Siraj that suggested he had minutes rather than split-seconds in which to react to the ball. Like Patidar had done time and again during Royal Challengers Bangalore’s innings, Rahul simply stood still and dismissed the ball from his presence.4:28

Daniel Vettori: Coaches need to ‘destigmatise risk’ in KL Rahul’s mind

When he plays shots like these, Rahul looks capable of anything. It’s as if he knows in advance what the bowler will bowl. Presentiment to be involved, surely, when he reverse-lapped Shahbaz Ahmed over his right shoulder in the 11th over, his hands so quick you barely saw them move.Rahul makes these shots look so easy that you begin to wonder why the intervals between them are so often spent so watchfully, full of strolled singles to deep fielders. And on a day like Wednesday, when Super Giants were chasing 208, you wonder even more. There were no such lulls during Patidar’s innings. He hit a four or six every 2.8 balls, and if he hit a boundary early in an over, it was only a prelude to piling more pressure on the bowler with undimmed intent. With that innings fresh in the mind, it was natural to make comparisons when Rahul was batting. Patidar brought up his hundred off his 49th ball, for instance, and Rahul hit a six off his 49th ball to go from 58 to 64.But here’s the thing. Patidar was playing a blinder of an innings on a day when everything went his way. He timed the ball like a dream, and on the rare occasions when he didn’t, luck smiled on him.Patidar was on 59 off 34 when a top-edged swipe off Krunal Pandya ballooned and fell just wide of a diving Mohsin Khan at short third man. He attempted a slog sweep next ball and the ball beat his inside edge and missed leg stump by an inch. Then, when he was on 72 off 40, he mis-hit a pull off Ravi Bishnoi and Deepak Hooda missed a sitter at deep midwicket. And Patidar’s team was batting first. Rahul’s team was chasing. Rahul wasn’t chasing 112 off 54 balls; Super Giants were chasing 208.There is often criticism of Rahul’s conservative middle-overs approach – much of it justified – when his team bats first and ends up with totals that aren’t as far above par as they may otherwise be. But this innings wasn’t the same thing. And it wasn’t entirely about intent or its absence. There was a seven-over period immediately after the powerplay during which Rahul hit just the one boundary, but this was at least partly down to genuinely good defensive bowling, particularly from Harshal Patel, who got more purchase out of the pitch with his cutters than any other fast bowler on the day.”Yes, I think now, looking back, yes, it was just about two big hits in the middle overs and that could have gotten us over the line,” Rahul said in his post-match press conference. “It’s not that we didn’t try to hit those fours or sixes. We were trying, but in the middle they bowled really well. I think Harshal’s two overs in the middle were what pushed us back a little bit, because he went I think two overs for seven or eight runs [eight runs], he didn’t give away much, and he really changed his pace well. He bowled to the field, and that’s where we were pushed back a little bit.”After that quiet period, Rahul, Hooda and Marcus Stoinis hit seven sixes in the space of four overs to bring the equation down to 41 off 18 balls. If Super Giants had been offered this equation – that too with Rahul and Stoinis at the crease – at the start of their innings, they would probably have taken it.When the 18th over began, the predominantly Royal Challengers-supporting crowd were the quietest they had been all evening.1:48

KL Rahul: Harshal’s two overs in the middle pushed us back

On this overcast Kolkata evening, two batters performed very different high-wire acts. Patidar risked his wicket with every audacious shot he attempted, and the shots didn’t look all that risky when they came off because he was batting in a bubble of pure timing. And luck saved him each time he threatened to slip off the tightrope. The risk Rahul took was to minimise the risk of losing his wicket, and to back himself and his colleagues to deal with a steep asking rate in the closing overs of the match. He risked losing and having his approach criticised widely, when he could have gone harder, scored quicker, been out for 28 off 16 balls, say, and earned praise even if his team had lost by a bigger margin. The argument that a 16-ball 28 is a better innings than a 58-ball 79 in a chase of 208 is, of course, a valid one, and the argument won’t need to be made any longer if T20 evolves to the point where most teams have quality hitters batting from Nos. 1 to 8. But Rahul – a T20 player capable of every shot, but also one with hardwired longer-format instincts – was batting on the evening of May 25, 2022, for a team that has had middle-order issues all season, and he was trying to win them a match in what he felt was the best possible way.It came down to 41 off 18 balls, then 33 off 12, and then, after a spate of wides from Josh Hazlewood, 28 off 9. Then Rahul shuffled across his stumps, expecting the bowler to attempt a wide yorker, and got what he was looking for, misdirected so it was a full-toss. He looked for the lap over short fine leg, a shot he plays as well as anyone in the game. There are days when everything goes your way, and there are days when they don’t, but you battle your way through it and hope things work out. Rahul middled the ball, timing it reasonably well but not perfectly, getting a decent amount of power on the shot but not the elevation he desired to safely clear short fine leg.On another day, the ball may have travelled a couple of yards either side of where it ended up, and eluded the fielder’s fingertips. On this day, Shahbaz Ahmed leaped diagonally to his left, reached into the air, and landed with the ball nestled between his hands. On this day, two batters walked two different kinds of tightrope, and there was room for only one of them on the other side.

Provável escalação do Fluminense

Not Lammens: Man Utd flop is becoming their biggest liability since Onana

The 2024/25 campaign was truly one to forget for everyone involved with Manchester United, as the club registered their worst-ever Premier League finish.

Ruben Amorim’s side ended the year in a measly 15th position, sitting just three spots above the relegation zone, with various issues rearing their head throughout the season.

The Red Devils had a real goalscoring issue during their top-flight campaign, as seen by their measly tally of just 44 goals in their 38 outings – an average of just 1.15 per game.

However, at the other end, things were just as disappointing, as they shipped 54 goals in just 38 matches, ultimately leading to a total of 18 league defeats in 2024/25.

Many of the failures that season were directed that way of one man, with Amorim desperately needing to make the right call on his future during the recent summer window.

The stats behind Andre Onana’s failures for United in 2024/25

After David de Gea’s departure from United back in the summer of 2023, former boss Erik ten Hag decided to delve into the transfer market to bolster his ranks – landing the signature of Andre Onana.

As a result, the Dutchman decided to fork out a reported £47.2m for the Cameroonian’s signature – a deal which could go down as one of the worst in the club’s history.

Upon Amorim’s arrival last November, he decided to stick with the former Inter Milan shot-stopper between the sticks, but he was unable to match the confidence shown in him by the boss.

The 29-year-old featured 50 times across all competitions last campaign, but made nine direct errors that led to goals, many of which came in key moments.

From parried shots against Lyon to misjudging Morgan Gibbs-White’s effort against Nottingham Forest – it truly was a regular occurrence for Onana to drop numerous clangers.

His only appearance for the Red Devils this season came in the Carabao Cup defeat to League Two Grimsby Town – a game that would signal the end of his first-team place at Old Trafford.

Amorim decided to ship Onana out on loan to Turkish Super League side Trabzonspor, with the hierarchy backing him with a new goalkeeper on Deadline Day.

Man Utd have another Onana-esque liability

As a result of Onana’s departure, Senne Lammens was the man chosen to fill the void in the goalkeeping department for United, with the Belgian joining from Royal Antwerp.

At just 23, such a move may have been a daunting task to many, but the youngster has wasted no time in cementing the number one shirt as his own at Old Trafford.

He’s made six appearances for the Red Devils to date, keeping one clean sheet, but his goal prevented xG of 0.2, showcases his immediate impact between the sticks.

Lammens is also yet to register an error leading to a goal after his big-money transfer, with his arrival already solving one of the glaring issues in the squad from last season.

However, not all the new additions have slotted in as seamlessly as the goalkeeper, with full-back Patrick Dorgu unable to be as successful at Old Trafford.

The Dane arrived from Italian side Lecce back in January for a reported £30m, with such a move seeming to end the hierarchy’s hunt for a long-term left wing-back.

However, nearly a year on from his transfer, it’s evident that the 21-year-old simply isn’t at the level required and is now becoming a huge liability for Amorim’s men.

Dorgu has only started seven out of a possible 12 league games to date this campaign, with his latest showing highlighting why he’s been an inconsistent figure in 2025/26.

He featured for 58 minutes in the defeat against Everton on home soil, before being replaced by Diogo Dalot after struggling to make the desired effect at both ends.

The youngster was labelled “unreliable” by one analyst, after only winning one tackle, and losing all four of the aerial duels he entered – offering a lacklustre option out of possession.

Even with the ball, Dorgu struggled to impress, only completing 75% of his attempted passes, losing possession a staggering 11 times whilst failing to complete a single cross.

As a result, he’s massively becoming a liability under Amorim, arguably the biggest one since Onana’s lack of form for the club back in the 2024/25 season.

A solution for all parties is desperately needed before the January transfer window, with the club potentially needing to reinvest in the market to solve the problem at left wing-back.
